Veggie Garden Maintenance

Garden Coach

For those who want to learn as they go, Edible Eden offers Garden Coach sessions. These monthly maintenance visits are coordinated with your schedule so we can garden together as a learning opportunity. We spend up to 90 minutes with you in your garden trouble shooting, assisting with labor, and showcasing best practices. This program includes access to members only resources on our website, such as monthly handouts, a pest guide, a planting calendar, and more. Garden coaches are also available to you at any time over email for expert advice. All seeds, seedlings, and materials are provided.

Quarterly

Some clients want to keep their hands in the dirt, but may need a little extra support throughout the year. Our Quarterly Veggie Care program includes one visit per season during the major vegetable planting windows. In spring, we prep/fertilize and plant out early season crops. In early summer, we plant warm season crops. In late summer, we plant fall crops. And, in late fall, we clean out the garden and plant garlic. We consider your crop preferences and set you up for success!

Meet Our Veggie Team!

Emily Castle, Veggie Gardens Manager

Emily began her love affair with plants when she visited tropical food forests abroad in Central America. Since then, she has pursued her passion for plants at arboretums, botanical gardens, and even an environmental publishing company where she helped develop the book Tiny Victory Gardens: growing food without a yard. Outside of work, Emily enjoys yoga, discovering the best eats of Baltimore, and growing her houseplant collection. She is thrilled to be a part of Edible Eden and looks forward to working with you in your garden!

Jamie Kemp, Veggie Gardens Coach

Jamie is a Baltimore native with more than a decade’s worth of gardening and plant knowledge gained in different disciplines and influenced by many philosophies. Eclectic & curious to the bone, she has a little bit of knowledge in a lot of areas, a lot of knowledge in a few areas and is always learning, growing, and developing! Self described as a ‘Crunch-Punk’, Jamie is a little bit DIY, a little bit homeschool Mom, a ‘hort-dork’ AKA ‘plant nerd’ and overall has the vibe of a helpful neighbor.

Jamie is currently furthering her studies in Sustainable Horticulture at CCBC, and is looking forward to sharing what she is learning with you!

Anna Beall, Veggie Gardens Assistant

Anna comes to us with an extensive background in animal welfare, and a deep rooted love and knowledge for gardening. Anna grew up in Mt. Washington at a beautifully landscaped home equipped with ponds, composting and lush flower and shrub gardens. On weekends, she tended to the family organic vegetable garden in Towson where she learned about growing all types of vegetables and troubleshooting their needs. This love for gardening has traveled with Anna from Baltimore to the Caribbean and down to the South. Outside of work, Anna loves spending time outdoors, taking road trips and camping with her family.
